We are excited to share the good news that the planning application for the Knocknagael allotments has now been submitted and all the relevant documents can be seen live on Highland Council’s planning website. This step represents the culmination of months of work.

Planning permission is sought for creation of a new allotment area with 145 plots and a community gathering space, a new access road into the site and a car park with height barrier, cycle and disabled parking spaces. The design has been developed to create a space that fosters community engagement and enhances well-being, helping people connect with and enjoy nature. The project includes environmental and biodiversity enhancement features such as new native hedgerows and wildflower meadow areas, and natural drainage solutions plus accessible path and walkways. It will provide valuable greenspace.

The designs have been prepared by landscape architects Iglu Studio an inspiring company from Edinburgh who have worked with technical engineers Narro and Harley Haddow. We are keen to thank the UK Government and Highland Council , who were able to support the design work through community regeneration funds.

The application can be viewed (and comments submitted) online through this LINK or at Highland Council’s Planning Portal: http://wam.highland.gov.uk using the application number 25/01985/FUL (‘Change of use of agricultural land to allotment garden plots and associated infrastructure Land 150m SE of 7 Essich Rd, Inverness’).
